This Ekphrastic workshop will be part of the Art Show at Leland Cultural Arts Center – On center stage, surrounded and inspired by art in the room.

About the Session:

Poems about personal experiences can be meaningful and relevant expressing connection, reflections, identity and awareness.

Join us for an inspiring poetry workshop where we’ll delve into the significance of telling our stories. Participants will explore how experiences shape our lives, evoke emotions, and stores. Through free writing, guided writing exercises and group discussions, we’ll craft first draft poems that capture the essence of meaningful moments. We’ll also explore the emotional dimensons of self, focusing on how membories can be a source of both hearfelt joy and heartbreaking loss.

Whether it is from childhood, a cherished person or place, or a time of painful memories, we’ll tap into the emotions these experiences evoke.

We’ll analyze diverse poems from contemporary poets, followed by hands-on writing activities, prompts, and plenty of in-class writing time.

Session Information:

$25 per person – includes lunch
