Bring the family for fun in the Town of Holden Beach Park on Davis St on March 14, 2020! While you are waiting for the runners/walkers to return come pick up a paintbrush and join mural artists Gaeten Lowrie & Nancy Turner as they paint an UNDER THE SEA themed mural to brighten the public restrooms at Holden Beach Park. Pick one sea creature design & “paint by number.” If you wish to help paint, please register to be a “volunteer painter” – while space and critters last! To volunteer, contact Mary Beth at Brunswick Arts Council at execdir.brunswickartscouncil@gmail.com.
Sherwin Williams of Holden Beach is donating the paint & materials and volunteers for this public art event. Gaeten Lowrie is a visual artist based in Wilmington, NC, USA. He is most known for his signature pen & ink style, which is often compared to stained glass because of its highly-saturated jewel tones. Other Brunswick County locations of his murals include The Eternal Sunshine Café in Leland. Nancy Turner is a visual artist and art teacher based in Southport, NC, USA. She is most known for creative vibrant alcohol ink work adapting the images and techniques to a variety of mediums, paper, canvas, tile, ceramic, jewelry and even wearable art. Together they have created a bright themed design that fits the pirate playground at Holden Beach.
