Sharon Wozniak Spencer
Judge Artist Bio
Sharon Wozniak-Spencer grew up in the metropolitan area of Washington D.C., she was influenced heavily by her mother’s interest in art and frequent trips to museums. This created a desire for Sharon to earn her BFA in art school at The University of Maryland, where she graduated in 1990. Sharon continued to pursue an MA in art education at The Ohio State University where she completed her MA in 1996. The degree offered Sharon opportunities to teach at OSU as a teaching assistant and at local galleries.
Sharon continued to be heavily involved in pursuing her own art career, through shows at Cameron Art Museum, Land Fall Art Show, and the Arboretum Art Show, as well as others in Connecticut and Ohio. In order to develop her career further, she decided to pursue her MFA at the San Francisco Academy of Art University, where she graduated in 2017. While at AAU, Sharon was an artist in resident for the Hope Center in Wilmington, NC where she created a series of paintings about those in need and Sharon was an intern for the Cameron Museum of Art, where she had a show and discussion on “Faces of Courage”.
Her current group show: Eden Village a Collective Exhibition, that she put together through the Wilson Center and the Wilma Daniels Gallery at CFCC is a benefit show for Eden Village of Wilmington. Eden Village is creating 31 tiny homes for Wilmington’s chronically homeless. Sharon is very excited to put this show together as it will outlive the show and benefit. She helped coordinate other CFCC departments from Dental, Nursing, OT, EWD, and Phi Theta Kappa to help Eden Village’s community and residents. This to Sharon is a show well done as the community at large is involved in the benefit, students from CFCC and departments will be involved in bettering the community, and the community at large will be able to see the benefit of helping others in need.
