Many of the same features from previous years: beautiful scenery; unlimited, non-juried submissions to the wet paint sale; no commission on sales; and plenty of things to see and do during your visit. Friday afternoon features a tour of our local community college campus, which is dedicated to a full range of arts instruction, from pottery to metal smithing. The opening reception later on Friday is in the heart of Southport’s gallery district, where you will be within walking distance of Franklin Square Gallery, home to the Associated Artists of Southport, and other local favorites. Discount coupons for a variety of nearby restaurants will be included in your welcome packets, as well as, for eateries located on the waterfront and the Southport Yacht Basin, where you will find the best sunset in all of North Carolina for your painting or viewing pleasure. For new arrivals on Saturday, check-in begins at 8 am in a downtown park located one block from the Cape Fear River. This is where all the day’s activities will take place: children’s painting, musical entertainment, a food truck (lobster rolls!), and the wet paint sale, with non-cash merit awards conferred by established local artists.
