Bring your usual oil painting colors and other supplies (paper towels, odorless spirits, medium, etc. no turpentine)
canvas – size no bigger than 16 x 20, try 6 x 6, 12 x 12, etc,flowers look good on square canvas, gallery wrap is good
palette knives – 1 small, 1 medium, 1 narrow long one (metal, not plastic)
large brush for mixing colors
medium flat brush
small brush for details
I will bring real flowers to paint. You bring CLOSE UP photos, your own or from magazines and catalogues. Think LARGE flowers like sunflowers, roses, lilies, camellias, etc.
We will concentrate on close up renderings using details to bring shape and points of interest – attention on pure color, gradation and contrast. You can use acrylics if you prefer. They will be slightly different but will work. No watercolors please. FREE.
