Kirah Van Sickle to speak at ALL

The Art League of Leland (ALL) invites artists and art enthusiasts to its May 9 meeting featuring artist Kirah Van Sickle as its guest speaker. Van Sickle will explain her past and current processes and share her formal and informal critique process. The meeting will take place from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Leland Cultural Arts Center, 1212 Magnolia Village Way, Leland, NC 28451.
Featured speaker Kirah Van Sickle is a dynamic instructor and lecturer, leading custom studio courses for both beginner and seasoned artists through museum schools and local art associations. Her acrylic and mixed media works incorporate found objects and papers with paint glazes, marrying both her foundational, representational style with a contemporary mixed media process. An award-winning illustrator, graphic designer and studio artist as well as a certified Golden Artist-Educator, Van Sickle is a staff instructor at the Cameron Art Museum, Johnston Community College, and Cape Fear Community College.
ALL member Marlowe will be in the Member Spotlight. Before moving to Wilmington, Marlowe worked as a successful commercial illustrator in New York City. His work includes illustrations for the New York Times, Sports Illustrated and Newsweek. After he began illustrating children’s books, he penned a Parent’s Choice award featured on the Today show. Winning numerous awards over the past 20 years, Marlowe has illustrated for over 100 magazines and book jackets.
