The multi-county consortium of arts councils from Brunswick, Columbus, Pender and Wilmington & NHC and with the support of the North Carolina Arts Council, has named the 2017 – 2018 Regional Artists grants.
The Regional Artist Project Grant Program is awarded annually to provide financial support for exceptional artists by funding a project pivotal to their development in their respective art forms. The regional panel considered 34 applications from across the counties totaling in excess of $34,000. 17 projects were selected for funding in this highly competitive program. Brunswick County awardees are Kathy Irvine, Visual Arts;
Marie Kasper, Visual Arts; and Tina Smith Music. Brunswick Arts Council was represented by Liz Boyer of the BAC Board of directors during the review and selection process.
“We’re thrilled to support the artistic careers of some of the region’s most promising artists. From equipment purchases to the production of new work, these artists proposed projects that will have a demonstrable effect on their work,” said Rhonda Bellamy, executive director of the Arts Council of Wilmington and NHC.
The RAPG is funded by contributions by the NCAC and arts partners in Brunswick, Pender, Columbus and Wilmington & NHC. Brunswick Arts Council’s contribution was funded, in part, by a generous donation from First Bank.
